The Bird Trip

Just because of the weather!!!
Lesson learned
First things first! To make great shots in wildlife, you need to go at the right time of the day. This means: effort! Rather be there 1.5 hours before the sun goes up or start an hour before the sun goes down. You might say; with todays software you can adjust everything at home and you might be right. However, to get those soft shadows and the warm soft light is pretty unique and very hard to replicate. – Please tell me if I am wrong but I rather spend the time behind the camera than behind the computer.
Well having that said, I unfortunately did not have the opportunity on that day to get out at the preferred times. On top of that I had one of the very few days in Dubai on which there was no sun, haze and lots of humidity! Therefore I was forced to crank up the games to take editing to my limits. On top of everything it was freezing cold…— Yes in Dubai! Sitting in the hiding shelter to wait until the birds make a move while the cold wind just passed through the watch holes. My buddy and me were very patient while my wife kept the kids busy. Thinking we were on top of the game with our gear, we found ourselves beside those “machine guns”… the 10 or more frames per second type, mounted on this tank gun type lens. Really?!?! At this stage just self motivation helps and trying to stay loyal to my d750 and 300 mm glasses.
At the end it was a fun trip with average results, compared to what could have been achieved with better circumstances (meaning time of the day and not the gear). If money could have been spend modestly, a tele converter for a starting 600 AED could do already a good job on getting closer to the objects.
Judge for yourself and tell me what you think.
